This is an addendum to Pelletier & Hébert (2019) The Cryptophagidae of Canada and the Northern USA (http://dx.doi.org/10.3752/cjai.2019.40). Matthew L. Gimmel from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, California notified me that the name of one of the species I described in this publication, Atomaria (Anchicera) salicicola Pelletier, is in fact a junior primary homonym of A. (Anchicera) salicicola Kraatz, 1853, this species being a synonym of A. (Anchicera) zetterstedti (Zetterstedt, 1837). In this addendum I provide a replacement name for the new species: Atomaria (Anchicera) salicicaria, nomen novum, a poetic form of A. salicicola. This new name means that the following changes need to be made to those using the original publication:
(1) p.1, 4th par: A. salicicola salicicaria Pelletier;
(2) p.3, 3rd par.: A. salicicola salicicaria Pelletier;
(3) p.16, on the checklist: A. salicicaria Pelletier, nomen novum, A. salicicola Pelletier, preoccupied by A. salicicola
Kraatz, 1853;
(4) p.20, 2nd par.: A. salicicola salicicaria;
(5) p.103, on the key, Fig.243: A. salicicola salicicaria; couplet 78’: A. salicicola salicicaria;
(6) p.223, within Similar species : A. salicicola salicicaria;
(7) p.226, within Similar species : A. salicicola salicicaria;
(8) p.227, within Similar species : A. salicicola salicicaria;
(9) p.228, within Similar species : A. salicicola salicicaria;
(10) p.249: A. salicicola salicicaria Pelletier, nomen novum (A. salicicola Pelletier, preoccupied by A. salicicola Kraatz).
Etymology: salicicaria is a poetic form of salicicola, which means “living on willow”, corresponding to the dominant shrub species in the habitat of the type series.
Acknowledgment: Thanks to Matthew L. Gimmel, from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, California, who advised me about the homonymy of this previously named species.
